End of Year round up!

What a busy year it's been - it has been a pleasure providing classes for your children and we hope they've thoroughly enjoyed their classes this past academic year!

Our January exams were a great success. With 412 pupils taking part in our Winter LAMDA exam sitting, we were delighted to receive as a school: 291 Distinctions, 112 Merits and 9 Passes. A huge congratulations to all of our learners on their success here!

We also had incredible performances at the Winter Showcase held at Orley Farm School, The Watford Festival of Speech and Drama in March, and the Ruislip-Northwood Festival in May (please note this will revert back to Feb half term from next year as normal).

We were also delighted to take part in some filming for LAMDA to promote the exams. As the largest LAMDA centre worldwide, we are very proud of the close relationship we have with LAMDA HQ itself, and hope to get involved with more projects in future. Our QE Drama team did us proud this year, with phenomenal performances at the Arts Depot of a fantastic, politically resonant, production of Julius Caesar, followed by an incredibly dynamic performance of Murphy & Robertson's 'The Jungle'. Mr Bonam Carter from QE commented on it being one of the most impressive school performances he's ever seen. A huge thank you to our director Gavin Lister for all of his efforts.

Maria Allman, our workshop coordinator was delighted to add LAMDA Masterclasses to our holiday provision this year, in addition to the brilliant 'Play in 3 Days' production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There won't be a summer workshop this year as Maria is now on maternity leave, but we look forward to more workshops across the board next year.

Come September, we are delighted to welcome back Gavin Molloy, who's been away this past year for a professional project. And we are saying a sad - but hopefully temporary - farewell to Alex Israel. He's been running classes both over evenings and weekends, and at John Lyon now for the past 5 years, but will be heading to one of London's drama schools for a prestigious Head of Year role. We're delighted for him - but hope that he may be able to return and teach some classes still for us, a little further down the line!

Finally, moving on to our Summer exams - our students worked phenomenally hard - and a record 840 pupils have completed their LAMDA exams in the past fortnight. Everyone came out smiling, and the examiners complimented us on what talented and organised pupils we have!

Jo away at some point in September/October Just a quick bit of personal news - I've got a baby on the way due in early October. A heads up, that there may be a period at some point in Sept/Oct where replies are suddenly a little slower than normal. I'll do my absolute best to keep on top of things as much as possible, and my wonderful team of teachers will also do their best to help with any queries you may have in that period - but just so you're aware. I'll pop an 'out of office' on when the time comes.
